The tranquil sister to Majorca and Ibiza, Menorca lulls you into a state of blissful relaxation. The lush countryside is dotted with prehistoric monuments, and azure waters lap the shores of white sand beaches. Visit cliff top restaurants and stroll cobbled streets lined with churches, plazas and boutiques.
There are numerous reasons why most choose holidays to Menorca, not the least of which is the outstanding beaches that the island offers. In this region of the Mediterranean, secluded coves nestle between long sand strips that slope gently down to turquoise waters, and cliffs that rise dramatically out of crystal clear ocean waters.
Among the finest beaches in the world are those found in Menorca. Although a handful of coastal resorts have been developed for tourism, the entire island was designated a Unesco Biosphere Reserve in 1993, meaning it retains its natural charm.

Both Cala en Bosch and Son Xoriguer have their own beaches. Cala en Bosch beach is close to the Marina area, and the neighboring beach of Son Xoriguer is around the headland. Cala en Bosch is much larger of the two, has fine white sand, and is adjacent to an inlet which calms the sea for the smaller children, as well as providing excellent place to snorkel with its rocks along the side of the bay. Those who wish to participate in watersports can find them on the beach at Son Xoriguer.
There is nothing more charming than a seaside town on Menorca’s southeast coast than Es Castell. A relaxing and peaceful place, it revolves around its two harbours – Cales Fonts and Cala Corb. Here, you’ll find rustic eateries, hip bars, and souvenir shops that sell ornate ceramics. From both harbours, you can see across a wide bay. Mahon, the capital of Menorca, is 15 minutes away.
Located on the southeastern corner of Menorca, S’Algar is just 20 minutes from Mahon airport. The well-established holiday resort of S’Algar is located between Mahon harbour and the quaint fishing village of Cala Alcaufar on the rocky coast.
Although there is no beach in S’Algar, along the picturesque rocky seafront are a series of bathing platforms, many of which allow visitors to steeply descend into the sea. Aside from snorkeling and diving lessons available at the diving school, the clear waters make them a popular destination for snorkelling and diving.
You can also reach the neighbouring resort of Cala Alcufar within 5 minutes by car or in 30 minutes by foot along the beachfront. The resort has a small sandy cove popular with families.
Punta Prima holidays aren’t just about picture-perfect beaches. Located on the island’s southeastern tip, this ancient Menorcan town boasts rugged adventure, fascinating culture, and gorgeous beaches. Punta Prima is on the Cami de Cavalls hiking trail, so there’s a ton of footpaths that stretch over the rocky cliffs and between the private coves, perfect for keen walkers.
Water sports are also a thing here, like kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. Get a tan on the local beach, which is known for its glistening clean waters and bright white sand. With its picturesque landscapes and authentic island culture, Punta Prima is a holidaymaker favourite year after year
The village of Cala En Porter, also called Calan Porter or Cala’n Porter, is in the municipality of Alaior on Menorca. It’s on the southern coast, and its eastern side has lots of terrace bars, houses, and apartments.
Calan Porter is set in a cove, so the clear waters attract lots of fish you can watch while snorkeling. Because the beach and sea are shallow for over 100 meters, it’s a safe beach for young families. There are also showers along the coast, so you can rinse off after swimming.
